![]() If this doesn't fix your problem, I sincerely hope you're able to find help and helpful people on these (and other) forums. I suspect you could, if you encountered more problems, keep excluding unnecessary (but problematic) directories into your exclude file to fix the problem (or possibly just delete the files if you are certain you don't need them locally either). Running grsync again proved to be successful with no errors! A great success. When I re-ran grsync I encountered other errors (again, not focusing on the bottom error number - but instead the first error) and, after examining the directory that was giving me problems (in this case "Dropbox/.dropbox") I realized I didn't need to backup anything in there either. You may be wondering why I included "Dropbox/.dropbox" in the exclude file. I've included an image (highlighted areas important) if that is more helpful to you here. We'll focus instead on the first error line (they show up in red).Ĭode: Select all -exclude-from=".grsync/exclude" (Perhaps someone else can help explain the various error numbers later.) The following is how I fixed the problem I described above.įirst of all, let's ignore the error number at the bottom, ("Rsync process exit status: 12") as the only descriptions I found for that seemed too vague to be helpful. While I claim no specific expertise, I have a willingness to learn and share what I learn with others. If you "went to Google" and searched for "rsync input/output error" and found "like 75,000 hits" but were met with only confusion or seemingly dead and unanswered threads that redirected to Google (in an endless circle like an absurdist narrative), I hope the following is helpful to you. Rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) Rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (486 bytes received so far) ![]() Rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(322) G-Sync Compatible is the base tier, supporting display sizes between 24 to 88 inches. Kyconway/.cache/champlain/osm-mapnik/6/12/26.png G-Sync has three different tiers with its certification G-Sync, G-Sync Ultimate, and G-Sync Compatible. LOGFILE=/data/cameras/"$(date "+%Y-%m")_Archive.Code: Select all rsync: write failed on "/media/LaCie/myhomefolder/.cache/champlain/osm-mapnik/6/12/23.png": Input/output error (5) Here's the backup cronscript if it helps: #!/bin/sh I've even added a "killall rsync" script that executes 2 & 1/2 hours after each cronscript because there are times that the previous cronscript is still running rsync when the next schedule time arrives (3 hours). For the sake of speeding things up, I have added the -W and -ignore-existing switches to the rsync cronscript since these are not extremely important to me, but the speed increase has only been marginal. Oftentimes, by the time the cronscript has reached the 13th camera, the copying has slowed down to a painful crawl, sometimes taking 1 to 2 minutes to copy each 650KB image file. The backup is performed 4 times daily via cron and rsync. I am running Ubuntu Server 18.04 on an ancient Dell Dimension 4550 desktop that I use to backup 13 security cameras.
